Karel Poborský’s Euro ‘96 Lob Voted Best Individual Euro Goal
Over at UEFA’s official Euro 2008 site, they’ve been polling for the best individual goals in Euro history. I say polling, they’re actually only giving voters three options to choose from. I personally would have gone for this bit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic magic but for some reason that wasn’t on the table.
Still, got to admire the Karel Poborský super-scooper that did win it. Read on to see all three goals, and how the votes went:
Karel Poborský’s impromptu lob in the Euro ‘96 quarterfinal for Czech Republic vs Portugal took 54% of the vote and earned him a move to Man Utd. It’s also the best ever Euro goal scored by a man with a girl’s name. Probably.
John Cruyff’s Euro ‘76 quarterfinal goal for Netherlands vs Belgium took 38% of the vote. Chiptastic.
Kim Vilfort for Denmark in the Euro ‘92 final took just 8%. But Vilfort shouldn’t feel bad, he’s got a Euro winners medal and the other two don’t.
