Greece 2004 – I wrote this post, and I’ll answer that. I apologize if it seems like we’re unusually hard on Greece in this tournament. If you read our other posts, you’ll see that we tend to take a lighter approach to a lot of our stories on this site, and sometimes, that leads to us making fun of one side a bit more than the others. This year, Greece had a lot to prove, namely that they were more than a flash in the pan in 2004. I think they had some quality on their side, but ultimately showed little of it in this tournament.

The comments you point to in your response were meant as a bit of fun. As the title of this post suggests, we weren’t paying a lot of attention to this match, since it didn’t matter to the tournament as a whole. I’m sorry if you were offended by the post, but I hope that you realize it for what it was and don’t mistake it for anything but an attempt at humor that obviously, for you at least, missed the mark.

Please, so some respect cause Greece didnt won the champinoship in 2004 by chance..The comments on the Greece-Spain game are disgusting. I am really pissed off with some English-Spanish or whatever commentators that are supposed to be journalists. In fact they are not!The journalists are supposed by definition to be objective..

“Greece lines up a free kick, and its taken poorly to the foot of the wall. If you’re a Greek player putting in a free kick, you should know instinctively to go for the head. That’s how you’ve always won in the past.”
Are these lines respectful and objective?

However, nonone can deny the fact that Greece didnt come up to our expectations as well but please be at least professional at your work. And if you dont know how to do it, just DONT!

I see on the UEFA site that neither Michel nor Webb will be officiating in the quarters. Good. Webb has shown obvious bias toward the Greeks in this game, as did Michel to the Italians. Their eyes are closed. I hope the committee runs some tapes and takes a good hard look at these games.

The Spanish reserves are making the most of their on-field time, by getting some yellow cards. I’d like to see each reserve get one, since, after all, they can.
