Domenech’s Response to France’s Elimination? “Will You Marry Me?”
According to grief counselors, there are five stages to the grieving process: Anger, denial, bargaining, depression, and… Proposing to your babymama on national TV.
Oh, wait. That’s just Raymond Domenech. The France coach. (At least for the moment.) After France crashed and burned in the group stage with one draw and two losses, Domenech had this to say when asked about the team’s play:
“The only thing of that I can think of at the moment is for me to marry Estelle.”
“It is in moments such as this that one needs close relations. And now I need them.”
I don’t know about you, but if I were Domenech and my baby-mama looked like Estelle Denis, I’d be wanting to make it legit too. You know. Tie her to me legally before I’m unemployed.
Estelle’s response, when asked about the proposal? That it’s a private matter.
Ouch.
Domenech has since gone on record apologizing for…well, if not the proposal itself, at least the circumstances:
‘Yes, forgive me. It was an error in communication. I felt a moment of humanity when I should have stayed cold and professional.’
Is anybody else squirming in discomfort for the poor guy?
Here’s the video of the original proposal, for any francophones in the house:

Awkward. But good to know that Domenech is scoring in that department. ![]()

That was a weird moment indeed.

Looked like Estelle Denis? It is Estelle Denis! I guess we don’t need to feel so sorry for him after all, especially since he’s kinda tied her to him already with two kids…

In Italian there’s a perfect expression to categorize this: “Domenech è alla frutta“. In other words, “stick a fork in him, he’s done”.
