Edwin van der Sar Will go to Euro 2008 on a High

A totally legal high of course. Not the Adrian Mutu kind.
Because the giant Dutch keeper’s last domestic club action before Euro 2008 was this:
Not a great penalty from Nicolas Anelka, but a Champions League winning save from Edwin van der Sar.
Add together VDS’s form for Man Utd this season (outstanding) and the huge morale booster that is winning the Champions League single handed double fisted and the fact that he’s just so damn big and good and I’d make Edwin van der Sar my favourite to be goalie of the tournament this summer.
Of course, I’m sure there are plenty of Gigi Buffon and Petr Cech fans out there who disagree.
If you see this video again you can notice Van der Sar points the finger to the left side then Anelka has left hand up as if he wants to let Van der Sar know the penalty kick direction.

Although you can’t see it in this video, Van der Sar actually smiles when he dives the wrong way. He has a big grin on his face before he even hits the floor!
Rio said that Van der Sar already knew which way some Chelsea players would kick the ball. But Van der Sar admitted that he had never seen Terry take a penalty before, which was evident as Van der Sar dived completely the wrong way.
Terrys miss was made to look worse by Van der Sars dive, as the goal looked massive. If Van der Sar dived the correct way, then people would probably feel a little less sorry for Terry.
