ESPN Euro 2008 Schedule Announced

May 9th, 2008 | By: chris | 40 Comments »

espn.jpgThis will be the first year the European Championships are broadcast live in the United States, on that miniature network called ESPN (or something), which is a fairly newsworthy happening for a country trying to further immerse itself in the beautiful game.

Most of the games will be on ESPN2, with a few more thrown at ESPN and ESPN Classic (most of the games will be on ESPNDeportes as well). The mack daddy, ABC, will get the final, along with a random quarterfinal game. Strange setup from the network, but who’s to argue with the world’s leader in sport? Not I.

And make sure to use your Euro 2008 wallchart when the time comes.

The schedule, for your viewing and bookmarking pleasure, is after the jump.

wtf soccer is definately the best (hence the most played) sport in the world…the reason people in america may not like soccer is becasue it is a low scoring sport and they have short attention spans…..in other words, THEY. ARE. STUPID.
and baseball is rlly a buisnessy sport. i mean, it’s sole purpose is advertisement since half the plyers are prctically obese. basketball requires no tactic, when compared to soccer, and football…..pretty much sucks.

ESPN needs to stay away from the soccer business. What’s with clipping off parts of the game, or just downright not showing the replay of the Italy vs. netherlands match last night? Go away ESPN and let Telemundo or that other Spanish network galavision get a piece of this, they know how to broadcast soccer…you suck!!

what’s going on with espn?! they’re showing portugal-switzerland, but not turkey-czech republic? one of them is a game with no importance whatsoever, the other determines the second team to emerge from the group. hellooooo espn, where’s your common sense?!

Sunday 6/15
2:30 p.m.- Switzerland vs. Portugal A (ESPN2)
2:30 p.m.- Turkey vs. Czech Republic A (ESPN2)
Is this a mistake? same day, same channel at the same time?

Yes, this is a mistake. It’s showing up on a lot of other websites as well, so I’m guessing it originally came from ESPN.

Correction is that Portugal-Switzerland will be on ESPN Classic, Turkey-Czech Republic on ESPN2. I’ll go in and fix it now.

HAHHAAAA! Seth I just put Please god let spain win the game on sunday into google and this page came up..Thats great. Now I hope god is listening and gives Spain a much needed victory for all the bad calls- Korea and the italian elbow o the nose, hell even for having that as@hole Franco- it has suffered over the years. So we could finally forget about S(occer)pain. I need a drink.

I am glad that Germany is still in it. And I’m also glad Spain won. These next games are going to be very exciting to watch. I’m very glad ESPN and ABC are broadcasting them live to those (few) of us here in the US that appreciate the great game of football (soccer)!
