GAME – Well done from the Swiss.
86′ Yakin comes off to rousing applause.
Barnetta wins a penalty….Yakin…..GOOOOAL. Three goals for Yakin this tournament. Where the hell did that come from?
2-1 CR, what the hell are you watching this one for?
80′ Quillo Barnetta got a yellow, he misses next match.
Almeida on for Postiga, who ran 8.86km in case you were wondering.
GOOOOAL Hakan Yakin. Well, chances are they won;t go home without a point. Right in front of net for him.
Moutinho on for Veloso.
Czech Republic getting ready for Croatia if you’re only watching this one. 2-0
65′ Inler hit a cannon from distance just off the post, that would’ve been one of the goals of the tournament.
Barnetta is looking good already.
63′ Barnetta has come on for Vonlanthen. We’ll take any type of a spark at this point.
57′ Quaresma just kicked Magnin in the face. That’s not nice, Ricky.
53′ Nani puts a 1v1 off the post. Clear chance there.
50′ Ricardo just out-jumped Derdiyok, but that was a good chance from the young lad. Good stuff here from the Swiss.
HALF Jorge Ribeiro, Maniche’s bro, was brought on for the yellow carded Paulo Ferreira
45′ Nani has committed 6 fouls already. Friendly!
44′ Inler’s bloody. The Swiss taking a beating here.

36′ Postiga scored a goal…ruled offside….he wasn’t. Whaddya know? Nice work this tournament.
30′ Uh oh, down goes Behrami. Looks like Achilles. Being stretchered off. Bye bye big club move.
26′ Vonlanthen on the break had potential but he scuffed the shot. Coulda woulda should.
23′ Postiga has a shot in the box stopped by the defense. Not really a competitive game, not really a friendly. Somewhere in between.
15′ Nani’s free kick takes a Pepe touch off the crossbar, damn near 1-0 there.
7′ Quaresma pulls out the rabona, but best of all it was a PERFECT cross. His price just went up 7m.
Lineups:
Portugal: Ricardo, Pepe, Miguel, Meira, Ferreira, Alves, Veloso, Meireles, Quaresma, Postiga, Nani.
Switzerland: Zuberbuhler, Senderos, Muller, Magnin, Lichtsteiner, Yakin, Inler, Gelson, Behrami, Vonlanthen, Derdiyok.

chris, you actually liveblogging this or just place holding?

the ESPN schedule says both games are airing on ESPN2 simultaneously… how does that work out? are they going to be constantly switching between both games or something?

I’m going to be keeping up with the big stuff, not every minute though

Its a shame because on paper this is the better game I think. Still, its obviously not the one that matters.

I’m happy with Switzerland’s aggressiveness.

Portugal hits the crossbar.

There was a touch by Zubi that prevented the shot from going in.

no shit, behrami’s off injured?

There was a red card for Portugal there, but then again refs don’t help us.

Italy

I agree it should have been red, no idea what Ferreira was thinking.

Not a great half. I think Switzerland should put more effort, they have nothing to lose.

I hope we win this. 0 points would be very unfair.

too bad this doesn’t even matter.

Lucky? Doesn’t matter when you get the goals as long as you deserved to get them and they most certainly did.

I knew Switzerland would have that extra boost because they really wanted to have a decent goodbye from euro 2008, but I never expected the referee to be so much into helping them.
Congratulations Switzerland your team is much better than your classification and shame on the referee.

snnth, true but there would have been 2 red cards for Portugal so I guess that makes it even. Honestly, after the previous mistakes in our regards, I can’t really bother.

Thanks for the babes upfront Chris. Lovely two-track commentary here. Couldn’t watch Portugal as ESPN – the channel I have – opted for the Turkey match
. Good tactical move I’d say, resting Deco and Ronnie.
