Chris, I live in Singapore (it's near to Thailand) and I remembered back then during the World Cup two years ago, there has been a lot of fuss in the media over getting a high-definition TV set (they kind of like came out with reasons like you can see a footballer's sweat more easily on the TV screen...like as if I want to see it). I am not sure of the exact figures of people buying HD TV sets when the tournament was going on in Germany at that time, given people were only starting to warm up to HD technology (the media was only starting to talk more about HD technology then and the World Cup became an 'excuse').

I have no idea of the situation here ahead of the Euros but I know the local pay-TV service here even has a channel or two just in high-definition format for the matches. For me, I am alright without the HD version (the living room TV in my house had been bought way before the HD craze). As long as I can get to watch the matches, fine with me.
