Euro 2008 Podcast: Most Impressive/Most Disappointing Players so Far

June 18th, 2008 | By: Daryl | 1 Comment »

We haven’t done as many Euro 2008 podcasts as intended, but finally have one for you today as Ian and myself mull over the most – and least – impressive players at Euro 2008.

If your name is Mario Gomez, Lilian Thuram, Karim Benzema, Andreas Ivanschitz or Tranquillo Barnetta then you might want to skip the first bit.

But if your name is David Villa, Giovanni van Bronckhurst, Ludovic Magnin, Arda Turan or Luka Modric then listen to the latter half where all manner of praise comes your way.

Listen to the show via Podcast Offside and – assuming my dulcet West Mids tones don’t make your ears bleed too much – you can subscribe to the feed here.

Zhirkoff, Arda and Servet have all been very impressive so far, and from the ‘bigger’ names, David Villa, Wesley Sneijder, Michael Ballack and Rafael van der Vaart have all been impressive. Pavlychenko deserves a mention too.

Ballack may be a real contendor for player of the tournament, considering that most probably he will dismantle the turks and also play in the final.
