EuroVision: Polish Tabloids Re-Declare World War II
There’s nothing like an old football rivalry to reignite simmering political tensions. And the bloody, severed heads of German midfielder Michael Ballack and and coach Jogi Loew are a particularly nice touch.
But I believe they cross the line when they use a innocent polar bear to promote the feud.
And here’s our Germany blog’s take on the issue, with some interesting info about the tabloid ownership.

The Poland team will be a victim of the senseless and brainless propaganda war started by the proll press in their countr, which, as far we understand, does not reflect the stance of the majority of Polish society.
Why? Because, in addition to the fact that the German team will be superior in every singly position, the German players will be eager and happy to teach those big-mouths a rather painful lesson. The 1:0 against them in Dortmund two years ago will be a piece of chocolate compared to the bitter medicine that will be administered to them.
Vorwärts, Deutschland !

The paper with the severed heads is owned by a German company….

The freaky thing about the “severed heads” pic is that it doesn’t even look photoshopped! It looks like Beenhakker is actually holding the decapitated heads of Ballack and Loew in his hands. A touch of realism too far perhaps…

It’s the other way round. The sword-wielding Fakt is owned by the German Springer Verlag media group.
