Fabio Capello Picks France, Italy and Spain for Euro ‘08 Success
Fabio Capello has it pretty good right now.
The coach of the England National Team isn’t coaching at the Euros this summer, but it’s not his fault. (See: McClaren, Steve.) So he gets the prestige of running a large European team with a storied past, but for the moment doesn’t have to deal with the pressure to perform.
This means that he can sit back and tell us all about what he thinks is going to happen this summer in SwissAustria.
So tell us, Fabio. Who’s going to win the Euros?
“I think that the European Championships will be decided between France, Italy and Spain,” he stated. “The Spanish have a crack outfit, but then it was also like that when Emilio Butragueño, Michel and the others of that era played.”
France, Italy, Spain. Why not? All three have quality players this year. Italy and France made the World Cup finals, and Spain has a bunch of young up-and-comers who could set the tournament on fire.
As far as history, Spain has one Euro win, in 1964. Italy also has one, in 1968. France? One win, Two wins, in 1984 and 2000.
Any of the three would be thrilled to prove Don Fabio correct.

Gabriel, you’re absolutely right. Not sure how I missed that, but I’m fixing it now.

What about Portugal? I don’t think France, Italy, or Spain have Christiano Ronaldo in their squads.

Thats true Jose but Italy did beat Portugal 3-1 even with Ronaldo playing and Greece beat them yet again 1-0. His team has to support him or else that will be their story this Euro.
