Jan Koller is the “Bizarro Zidane”

Though their careers were incomparable, both were the biggest names at the last two tournaments to hang up their boots for club and country on the last day of the tournament. Actually, there were a good number of similarities: both scored goals in their last game; both had their teams go out cruelly; both are bald; and they both also spent their last minutes in the game on the pitch in a confrontation with someone receiving a red card.

Of course Zidane giveth, while Jan taketh, which makes him Bizarro Zidane, or something. Volkan Demirel gave Koller a nice shove while Zizou was, in case you missed it, the aggressor. Do you think Jan said something about Volkan’s sister?

Why did Volkan react that way? Koller went in for a header just like he did for a punch on the ball. I am from england and became a huge fan of Volkan after the first two games and Koller since Euro 2004. There was nothing wrong with Koller’s attempt at the header and Volkan ruined his teams chances for the game vs. Croatia which is disappointing. I’d love for Volkan’s teammates to prove me wrong though.

I’m not too sure why he did it but I can only imagine Koller must have said something on top of what Zizou said. Though to be honest I think Volkan might have just blown his lid in frustration. The dumbest part about it is he got a 2 day match suspension for sitting on the bench.
