Lukas Podolski Leaving Klose and Toni in His Wake
Seems Bayern Munich teammates Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose have had a private wager over who will bag the most goals at Euro 2008.
The pair shared 34 Bundesliga goals for Bayern last season, but currently have just one between them at Euro 2008 – Klose’s goal for Germany against Portugal in the first quarterfinal.
Not sure exactly what the bet is, but my guess would be that it involves a sum of money that would make your average non-soccer superstar choke. [update: seems the better is a dinner, see comments] Toni is currently one behind, but with a chance to equalize tonight when Italy face Spain in what should be a quality quarterfinal.
Italy striker Toni has had the ball in the net once, against Romania, only to see it disallowed. But apart from that the big man has been literally misfiring. It’s like someone messed with his settings.
One man not having any trouble in front of goal is Toni and Klose’s Bayern teammate Lukas Podolski, despite spending most of the tournament out on the left wing. Seems Podolski wasn’t involved in the wager, and wouldn’t have been a smart bet after only netting five Bundesliga goals last season.
But right now Podolski is on course for the last laugh, leading the way among Bayern forwards with three Euro 2008 strikes to Klose’s one and Toni’s big fat zero.
My guess? Pavluvychenko.

The bet is a dinner. The loser has to pay. That’s all, may be expensive though.
