No Little Mozart at Euro 2008

Euro 2008 will have one less creative midfielder. Tomáš Rosický - the Little Mozart - will definitely miss the tournament, as the dodgy hamstring that’s been troubling the Arsenal midfielder since January now needs operating on.

It was always touch and go whether the Czech captain would make the tournament, but now it’s officially a no go.

“I must announce that I will not be capable of playing at Euro 2008. My injury requires surgery which I will undergo at the start of next week,” Rosicky told CTK.

“There is no other solution to the problem than undergoing surgery.”

So instead of slicing open Swiss, Portuguese and Turkish defences, he’s going to lie on a table and have the back of his leg sliced open.

Bad news for Czech fans and bad news for football fans, because Rosický is the type of player that helps makes a tournament exciting. Here’s a little taste of what we’ll be missing.
