Euro 2008

Poll: Who Will the Euro 2008 Winners Be?

Last week in our “Who Will Win Euros?” poll the overwhelming winner was Italy, with 20% of the vote. Portugal was second with 16%, and France and Spain finished with 15% each. And apparently not a lot of people have faith in the host countries, because Switzerland and Austria both finished with one vote apiece.

Have your views changed over the week? There have been a lot of preliminary squad announcements, a few unexpected team omissions, and various and sundry other news. Among the happenings:

Bojan won’t be playing for Spain.
Jogo Loew has named his Germany squad. And Bernd Schneider isn’t on it.
The Turkey squad was announced, and Hakan Sukur isn’t on the list. But Hamit Altintop will probably be fit and ready to play.
The Czech squad has been named. With no Rosický and no Nedvěd.
Italy’s preliminary squad list may or may not have been leaked.
How are the Poland players doing? Check the Squad Watch.
Big Phil Scolari has named his Portugal squad. And no Maniche.
Romania has also named their squad.
And Russia has named their squad, with a focus on Russia-based players.
Clarence Seedorf pulled out of Netherlands team before being called up.
Sweden also went to the squad-announcement party, and Henrik Larsson got an invitation.
And Switzerland announced their squad as well.

Got all that? Good. Now vote!

And don’t forget to pick your winner of Euro 2008 in our prediction competition. You could win some awesome prizes.

I was the only one voted Switzerland, I see.
I actually believe they’ll make it.

John, I’m not sure about Canada. I know in the US the games will be available on ESPN360.com if your service provider carries it. (Not all do.) It also looks like UEFA.com will have it on pay-per-view. Stay tuned — we’ll provide more details as we get them. Or there are always pirate sites like myp2p.eu.

As the tournament gets closer, we’ll offer up all of the viewing options we can find.
