Slaven Bilić’s Band to Record Croatia’s Euro 2008 Anthem
Despite his destroying England on the way to Euro 2008, Slaven Bilić might just be my favourite international coach right now. When he’s not coaching Croatia to international glory, Bilić is busy fronting his rock band Rawbau. And now he’s going to combine those two passion for Euro 2008.
Bilić has written a song called “Fiery madness,” which he believes will make a great anthem for Croatia’s exploits in Swissaustria this summer.
“Coach Bilic told us in January that he had a song that sounded good. The song is very catchy, a classic rock tune and I believe that fans will like it and that it will become their hymn,” said Vlatka Bartulovic, a spokeswoman for Zagreb brewery, who will produce the song.
Of course, Bilić is risking all kinds of embarrassment doing this. But the reason he’s my favourite coach is that he doesn’t seem to care, and if it’s a hit with the fans then can you imagine how great it will be to hear them singing along as Croatia face Germany, Austria and Poland in Group B. For a preview of what the song might sound like, visit Rawbau’s MySpace page (featuring an image of Bilić on guitar.)
