Germany, all zee vay! Just read Ballack is in. Does the media want to confuse us? Why wouldo a coach announce before the game who is playing and who is not? So, I guess I will wait for the game... We shall see. Gomez against Spain? I hope not.

I support Spain for a number of reasons. Like Foreverzidane, I have ties to Barcelona. I was introduced to the sport last year by a barca fan! Since then have had a great friend who is a Real Madrid supporter. I like a number of players on the Spanish team, also. Finally, their long stuggle to succeed in the Euros is a compelling story. Kind of like being a Red Sox or Cubs fan.

As I see it:

Spain wins in the GK battle.
The defense is flimsy on both fronts...
Spain's midfield is noticeably better. If its not Cesc and Xavi making beautiful plays its Iniesta and Silva cutting in and giving the perfect cross or shooting a good shot or its Senna shooting cannons at the GK.
The striker battle goes to Germany in potential (if Villa is out).
Podolski (I am counting the real positions altough Pdolski has impressed at left mid.) Klose and Gomez (who has oodels of potential) beat Torres (who is alone and has not impressed, but who I personaly belive will shine...)
Anyways
The bottom line is GO SPAIN!

Viva La Furia Roja! Although my two favorite teams (Italy/Spain) met each other early on,which I wasn't too very thrilled about, it was a blessing in disguise since it knocked the Don out that much earlier (sorry dude), and I got to turn my attention away from Italy's woes for a while and focus on the awesomeness that is the Spanish National Team.

Oh yeah. Spain's got this.

Spain have played well, but I just don't like them that much. Plus they knocked my boys out... Germany have played really well too though, so Germany all the way! (plus winning this will be some consolation for how we knocked them out of the WC =P)

Luckily, some of us CAN be German. areallaticfromthesouth, i had no idea about ballacks injury until i read your comment, and you just scared the living daylights out of me. kicker.de is reporting that him skipping the practice was more precautionary than anything after he felt pressure in his calf, and that he will be a gametime decision. im guessing he'll play...he wouldnt miss another major final after being suspended for the one in 2002.

However Michael Ballack is a major doubt due to a leg injury. Probably the story came from the same sources as the one who said the Super Frank is going to sign for Jose at Inter Milan and the deal will 'be done' tomorrow.
