Today at Euro 2008, June 8th
Since the Swiss lost yesterday, it’s up to the Austrians to win back some co-host-pride by getting a result in Vienna today. Coach Josef Hickersberger (pictured) ripped into his Austrian players for a lack of discipline recently, but are they really as bad as we all think? And how will Slaven Bilic and Croatia handle being favourites for this game? We’ll find out at 1800 CET in the Ernst Happel Stadion.
Group B: Austria vs Croatia, 1800 CET, Vienna – LiveBlog
This one could get rough. There’s already about ten big books worth of subtext here (20th century history, Klose and Podolski playing for Germany, that Polish tabloid business) and then German and Polish fans went and clashed in Klagenfurt last night. The teams finally meet tonight in what should be the first grudge match of Euro 2008.

Coach Hickersberger is using a ploy virtually all coaches do at times to deflect weaknesses. There are no material discipline issues and like the entire veil of secrecy with the teams formation, lineup and ‘keeper this is a well planned out event.
