Top 10 European Championships Goals
Australia’s version of FourFourTwo named their Top 10 European Championships goals of all-time and since they’re not European and thus unbiased (we think), the goals are worthy of a look. Apparently the crew was a big fan of Euro ‘96 in Ingerland. Oh, and three of the ten goals came via the Home Nations. Unbiased…we think.
Any goals in here unworthy, or any others not on the list deserving of a spot?
Marco van Basten, Euro ‘88 v USSR
Paul Gascoigne, Euro ‘96 v Scotland
Davor Suker, Euro ‘96 v Denmark
Karel Poborsky, Euro ‘96 v Portugal
Michele Platini, Euro ‘84 v Portugal
Tomas Brolin, Euro ‘92 v England
Alan Shearer, Euro ‘96 v Holland
Frank De Boer, Euro 2000 v France
Ronnie Whelan, Euro ‘88 v USSR
All McCoist’s goal against Switzerland was unavailable, which doesn’t say much for its inclusion.
Beautiful, outstanding, no words can describe the precision and expertise of the “snipers”. Thank you for refreshing some of the older genuine football gems. Regards. Natie

I’m not surprised that Luis Figo’s cracker from 30 yards out against England in 2000 got left out. That goal changed my life, but it seems like everyone forgets it when it comes to discussions like this. Do yourself a favor and YouTube it, but the above ones are sick nasty too.
I love that Shearer goal. Just because it’s so rare to see England play some deft passing football like that. Happy days.
Yea agree Daryl. Must be the best team goal England ever scored. Full credit to Sheringham for being unselfish. Many of those videos were unavailable to me (top 3 and platinis), but I loved Poborsky’s. As I’m only 19, Euro ‘96 was the first tournement that I watched, watching as many games on tv as I could. I still rate Gazza’s goal against Scotland as one of the best goals ever.
