Weekly Poll: Who Will Win Euro 2008?
In our poll last week, the vote wasn’t even close. The winner was…
CROATIA! With 44%(!!!) of the total votes. Poland was second with 14%, Italy dropped to third with 9%, and Germany was fourth with 7%.
How did the mighty Croatians do it?
They got a link to the poll in a major Croatian news source. And, since pimping for your team is perfectly legal here at Euro 2008 @ World Cup Blog, good for them. If you don’t like seeing your team drop in the standings, I believe it is your job to help get out the vote.
That poll is now closed, and this week’s poll is open. Some factors that might influence your vote this week are listed below the poll.
All of the final squad lists are out.
The goalkeepers in general are not fans of the new ball. (Expect high scores.)
France beats Ecuador in a friendly, and a team newcomer has a spectacular debut.
The Italy boys have been a bit distracted this week, by babes in bikinis testing security. (Score: Security, 0. Babes: 2)
Netherlands beat Ukraine in a warmup friendly, 3-0. But then they draw with the Danes.
Switzerland beat Slovakia, 2-0, and Lichtenstein, 3-0. And they have a new all-time leading goalscorer.
Germany draws with Belarus, 2-2.
Croatia over Moldova, 1-0.
Greece lost to Hungary, 2-3.
Things are looking up for Austria! A 1-1 draw against Nigeria, and a 5-1 win over Malta.
Poland draw with Macedonia, but get a winover Albania, 1-0.
Romania is having some injury issues.
Russia beats Serbia, but may lose Pogrebnyak.
Sweden lose Markus Rosenberg.
And Turkey beats Slovakia, 1-0, loses to Uruguay 3-2, and beats Finland, 2-0.
Got all that? Good. Now vote!
And don’t forget to pick your winner of Euro 2008 in our prediction competition. You could win some awesome prizes.
